WHO WE ARE

The Hispanic Business Student Association was founded in the Fall of 1980 by a few students who were determined to create opportunities for the Hispanic community. These students shared a goal of providing resources for members to excel as business professionals and mold generations of successful leaders. Originally named Mexican American Business Student Association, a rapid growth of members enabled the change to an increasingly inclusive entity. HBSA is now one of the largest student organizations at Bauer and is highly respected nationwide. Here at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, we continue to generate leaders and sow the seed of opportunity for all.

A Message From Our President And Vice-President

LEXI CHAPARRO | PRESIDENT

Hola familia! My name is Lexi Chaparro, and I am beyond honored and excited to serve as President of the Hispanic Business Student Association for Spring 2026. HBSA has always stood for unity, ambition, and culture. This organization is more than a student org, it is a familia that shapes who we become. As a first-generation college student, HBSA gave me mentorship, friendships, and a supportive community that helped shape who I am today.

This semester, we are focusing on what lasts. On what we build, what we inspire, and what we leave behind. That is why our motto is Define Your Impact. Because impact is not just about what you do in the moment, it is about the legacy you create through people, opportunities, and culture. Every event we host, every conversation we have, and every leader in this familia matters!

Let’s make this a semester rooted in intention, growth, and community as we define our impact together!

JARESSY UMANZOR | VICE-PRESIDENT

Hola Familia, my name is Jaressy Umanzor and I will be serving as the Vice President of the Hispanic Business Student Association for the Spring 2026 Semester! I am beyond excited to be working closely with an amazing officer board to foster strong individuals with growing leadership, collaborative mindsets, and a passion for uplifting our community. Additionally, I will have the privilege of leading 18 individuals who have dedicated their time to be part of the Rising Leaders Program. I am honored to help each of them grow professionally and personally. I am thrilled for this semester, the events, to meet new members, and see the returning members who are going to be part of the familia!
