Who We Are
The Hispanic Business Student Association was founded in the Fall of 1980 by a few students who were determined to create opportunities for the Hispanic community. These students shared a goal of providing resources for members to excel as business professionals and mold generations of successful leaders. Originally named Mexican American Business Student Association, a rapid growth of members enabled the change to an increasingly inclusive entity. HBSA is now one of the largest student organizations at Bauer and is highly respected nationwide. Here at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, we continue to generate leaders and sow the seed of opportunity for all.

Hola Familia! My name is Andrea Martinez and I am thrilled to be your President for this spring semester! I am currently a senior double majoring in Marketing and Management and I will be graduating this semester.
HBSA became my second home in which I was able to not only create new friendships, but also help develop my professional and leadership skills throughout my college career. This semester, I want to help the new generation of rising leaders discover all the great things HBSA has to offer. My goal is to provide more professional opportunities, foster new friendships and build a stronger support system for our HBSA familia!

brandon alegria - Vice president
Hola familia! My name is Brandon Alegria and It’s with great joy to be your Vice President for this spring semester! I’m currently a senior majoring in human resource development and have been a member since fall ‘22.
Being a transfer student, I came here not knowing anyone. I was always super introverted and would never come out of my shell. That was until someone persuaded me to join HBSA. Because of that and because of this org, my life has changed in ways I never saw coming. Not only did I grow as a person, but I grew alongside lifelong friends as well. Now, I have the opportunity to help develop the organization that has done so much for me. My goal for the semester is to help develop the future leaders of this organization while also guiding members and the board to become better versions of themselves in any way that I can. If you’re hesitant in joining HBSA, reach out! I’d love to introduce you to the people and familia that changed me for the better
